Our yearly events bring families, volunteers, and supporters together, and raise money for our housing programs and client services.

  August

  School is Cool

  We kick off a back-to-school drive and collect through the day of the party. We try to give every school-age child in our programs a school uniform, shoes, and a backpack full of the right supplies. Each year about 300 current and former clients join a two-hour party with food, games, and catching up before the bags are handed out. You can give school supplies, backpacks, or money for uniforms and shoes.

  Thanksgiving Care & Share baskets

  We collect food from November 1 and deliver Thanksgiving baskets to our families and older adults the week of Thanksgiving, so they can celebrate the day. Shop from our grocery list (call us for a copy) or give money.

  The holiday season

  Holiday Hero

  Become a Holiday Hero by “adopting” a child, adult, or senior and buying a few gifts, so they can celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa. Get creative: host a party, have guests bring toys and wrapping paper, wrap them together, and give a prize for the best-wrapped toy!

  Camp Gingerbread at NorthPark Center

  A holiday treat and tradition for the whole family. Decorate a gingerbread cookie or gingerbread house at NorthPark Center and take it home to enjoy. It makes a unique gift and great memories!

  All year

  Workdays

  With such a small staff, we count on volunteers. There are at least 6 workdays at our shelter homes and another 4 at our offices, to paint, fix up, and organize. Whether you have 4 hours or 40, call us. Everyone wins!
