From 1984 to today

  1. 1984

Shared Housing Center begins as a joint program of the Brady Center and the Center for Housing Resources, working with the Texas Department on Aging, the Access Center for the Elderly, the Dallas Area Agency on Aging, and Catholic Charities of Dallas.

  2. 1987

We become an independent, community-serving nonprofit, based in the Wilson Historic District of the Meadows Foundation.

  3. 2000

With support from the Meadows Foundation and City of Dallas Community Development Block Grants, we buy our own headquarters in the Deep Ellum corridor. It holds all our office and case management services, a food pantry, a computer lab for clients, a donation room for furniture and household goods, a toy room for children, and a women’s closet with clothes for job interviews and special occasions.

  4. 2014

We break ground on Green Haus, a new community of 24 homes in East Dallas.

  5. 2022

Our offices move to Green Haus at the Santa Fe Trail in old East Dallas, our newest housing community serving Dallas County residents.
