Thank you, Attorneys Serving the Community
Attorneys Serving the Community (ASC), a group of professional women, chose Shared Housing Center as their beneficiary. They beat their goal and raised an incredible $489,559 (net) for our families. Every networking meeting, creative activity, and event they organized made it happen, all while working full-time, raising families, and balancing busy lives. We are deeply moved by their commitment, compassion, and determination, and forever grateful.
The funds go directly to our families:
- A new agency van for reliable transportation
- More children’s activities, for more joy and learning
- A dedicated employment coach for the women in our programs
Thank you also to our generous donors, board members, and volunteers for a remarkable year. Together, you are bringing security, stability, and smiles to our families!
How we’re funded
Our yearly operating budget is about $500,000. Our income comes from grant writing, special events, companies and businesses, churches and synagogues, and individual donors.
We help about 100 families at a time. Most arrive with almost nothing, and we help with groceries, bus passes, clothes, and all kinds of household items and furniture.

Ways to give
You can give online with PayPal (opens in a new tab), or choose one of these ways. Every gift, large or small, helps a family start over.
Other ways to give
- Mail a check or money order to 4611 East Side Ave, Dallas, TX 75226. No amount is too small.
- Come to one of our fundraising events.
- Tom Thumb or Randall’s: sign up for the Good Neighbor Program and give our number, #4777. Each time you shop and show your card, a small share goes to us.
- Kroger: call us for a card. Each time you shop and your card is scanned, a small share is set aside for us.
- Ask friends and family to give in honor of your birthday or a family anniversary, or in memory of a loved one.
- Choose us at work in the Combined Federal Campaign of Metropolitan Dallas, the State Employee Charitable Campaign, or the City of Dallas Charitable Campaign.
- Choose us in your United Way campaign. We are not a United Way agency, but you can still name us, and we receive your gift minus United Way’s processing fees.
- Ask your workplace to charge a small fee for its next holiday party or picnic and donate the fees.
- Ask your workplace to name us as the beneficiary of a special event, like a golf tournament, grand opening, or company anniversary.
- Watch for our own fundraisers during the year, like chances to win airline tickets, and holiday cards sent to everyone on your list, at reasonable prices.
Donate items
Prefer to give things instead of money? Hold a collection drive at your office, school, or place of worship, or bring items to our office. We share everything we receive with our families and store any extra for families who come later. Please call first so we can tell you what’s needed most.

- Shoes, socks, underwear, coats, and caps (pick a month for a drive)
- Books, toys, and arts and crafts supplies for children
- Clothes, linens, towels, dishes, and pots and pans (great for spring cleaning)
