Southwest Airlines Managers In Training (MIT) presents Shared Housing a $50,000 check!

It has become a tradition for Southwest Airlines’ MIT classes to spend two workdays a year with us. From painting rooms to putting up a playground, SWA/MIT delivers! This year, the focus was a little different.

Classes I & II spent two different days with us focusing on “makeovers.”

The first makeover was to convert three badly misused rooms at our offices into working, viable and functioning spaces for storage, play and study. Our donation room that also serves as a pantry got a new layout, with shelves and deep cleaning. Our linen room also got a thorough cleaning, new shelves and great tubs to keep things organized. The last room was the children’s area which was a toy stashing room. You have got to come see it – it has a TV, bean bag chairs, WII station, and toys for children to select in time for birthdays, school grades, etc.

The second makeover workday was for the women in our programs. It was a day of interviewing tips, resume’ reviews and, finally, a bus trip to “Dress for Success” where all of the women were pampered to new hair do’s, make-up, outfits, shoes, purses and other accessories. And the children had their own fun, doing arts and crafts, dancing, playing with beach balls and eating hot dogs, popcorn and sweets. From Awesome to Zany sums up the day!
